About StdTestingHelp
StdTestingHelp answers the questions people actually ask when they are worried about a sexually transmitted infection: "is this herpes or a pimple?", "can I get it from kissing?", "how soon can I test?". We find those questions in public forums and search data, then answer each one plainly, using guidance from public health bodies such as the CDC and the World Health Organization.
What we do
- Give the short answer first, then the detail.
- Say honestly what a test can and cannot show, and when it is accurate.
- Point you to care when a test is not the right next step.
What we don't do
- We don't diagnose. Only a clinician or a lab test can tell you what you have.
- We don't give medicine doses or tell you how to get prescription drugs without a prescription.
- We don't claim our guides are medically reviewed. They are written by a patient advocate from public sources. Read our editorial policy.
Who writes the guides
Our guides are written and edited by Richard D. Porter, a patient advocate. We use AI tools to help research and draft; here is how.
How the site is paid for
Some pages link to testing services. If you buy a test through one of those links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. It never changes what a guide says. See our affiliate disclosure.
